I've been using a wired drain inspection camera for a couple years now, and it's been pretty reliable overall. But lately, I've been eyeing those wireless models—no more wrestling with tangled cables sounds pretty tempting, you know? On the other hand, I'm kinda worried about signal strength and battery life. Last thing I need is losing connection halfway down a pipe or having to recharge every hour.

Anyone here switched from wired to wireless or vice versa? Curious if the convenience of wireless outweighs the reliability of wired. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it... wouldn't be the first time, haha. Anyway, if you've tried both, I'd appreciate hearing your experiences—good or bad.

Switched to wireless about six months ago—honestly, it's been hit or miss. The convenience is awesome when it works, no more cable knots driving me nuts. But I've had a couple times when the signal dropped halfway through a tricky job... not fun pulling it out and reconnecting. Battery life's decent though, usually lasts a full inspection for me. If reliability is your thing, wired might still be safer. Wireless is nice, just not perfect yet.

Yeah, I hear you on the wireless convenience factor—no tangled cables is definitely a win. I've been using wireless for about a year now, and while it's mostly solid, I've had similar dropouts at the worst possible moments. One time it cut out completely halfway through checking a drain line under my deck... had to backtrack and reconnect, not fun at all.

On the plus side, battery life has been surprisingly good for me too. Usually gets me through multiple quick inspections without needing a recharge. But honestly, if I'm tackling something critical or complicated, I still grab my old wired cam just for peace of mind. Wireless tech is getting there, but reliability-wise wired still edges it out for now.

Yeah, that's pretty much been my experience too. I've been tempted by wireless for the convenience factor, but I keep hesitating because of the dropout stories like yours. Curious though—do you think the signal strength depends a lot on the brand or model? Maybe some higher-end wireless cams have fewer connectivity issues... or is it just the nature of wireless itself?

I've been following this thread because I'm about to tackle a bunch of plumbing projects at my place, and honestly, the wireless option sounded great at first—less hassle, less clutter. But after reading through everyone's experiences, I'm leaning toward wired now. Seems like reliability trumps convenience here, especially if you're dealing with older pipes like mine. Maybe wireless will catch up eventually, but for now, I think I'll stick to the cable... tangled mess and all.
