I've looked into TAC systems myself, and while the eco-friendly angle is appealing, I've heard mixed reviews about their effectiveness in areas with seriously hard water. A buddy of mine installed one last year and swears he still sees scale buildup around faucets. Maybe it's just his luck or installation skills (sorry, Mike!), but it makes me wonder if they're really as reliable as advertised... Might be worth double-checking your local water hardness before diving in.

Installed a TAC system at my parents' place about two years ago—similar story here. Definitely noticed less buildup initially, but after a few months, the scale crept back in. Seems like they're decent for moderate hardness, but really tough water still wins out eventually...

Had a similar experience myself—installed a TAC system about three years ago, and initially it seemed promising. Definitely reduced buildup at first, but after around six months or so, the stubborn scale started creeping back in. From what I've seen, these systems handle moderately hard water pretty well, but if you're dealing with really high mineral content, you might need additional measures like periodic vinegar flushes or even pairing it with a sediment filter upstream to keep things running smoothly...

Been there, done that—water hardness is a sneaky beast. Sounds like you're doing all the right things though. I ended up adding a sediment filter myself, and it's been a game changer. Hang in there, plumbing warriors...

Totally second this. I put in a sediment filter last year—didn't realize how much grit was sneaking into my system until I checked the filter after a month. Yikes. Also, if you haven't yet, insulating exposed pipes can help avoid those unexpected winter surprises... learned that one the hard way. Good luck out there!
