Good reminder about the UL-listed heat tape—definitely don't want to cut corners there. Has anyone tried leaving faucets dripping slightly during extreme cold snaps? I've found it helps keep things moving, but curious if others think it's worth the extra water usage...
I've done the faucet drip thing a few times myself—usually when temps really dip into the negatives. Honestly, I used to be skeptical (and kinda stingy about water bills), but after one winter where my neighbor's pipes burst and mine didn't, I'm sold. Sure, it's not ideal wasting a bit of water, but compared to dealing with frozen pipes and flooded basements... I'll happily eat the extra cost. Better safe than sorry, right?
