That’s spot on—drafts can be a real pain, especially in older homes where insulation isn’t always perfect. I’ve seen folks tear out half a wall thinking there’s a leak, only to realize it’s just condensation from cold air sneaking in. A good flashlight and some patience really do go a long way. Sometimes the simplest approach saves you hours of unnecessary work. Just goes to show, not every problem needs a high-tech solution... sometimes it’s just about slowing down and looking closely.

Yeah, I’ve seen people go full detective mode with thermal cameras and all that, when half the time it’s just a sneaky draft or a bit of condensation making things look worse than they are. I swear, sometimes all you need is a flashlight and maybe a little common sense. I once spent an hour chasing what I thought was a leak, only to realize it was just my own sweaty handprint on the pipe... rookie move. Slowing down definitely saves you from tearing your hair out (and your drywall).

I get what you mean—sometimes the simplest tools are all you need. I’ve definitely gone down the rabbit hole with gadgets, but honestly, a cheap moisture meter and a flashlight have saved me more than once. I’m always wary of overcomplicating things, especially when it comes to spending money. That said, I do like to double-check with a level or ruler if things look off... paranoia or just being thorough? Hard to say.
