need advice choosing between two radiant heating layouts
I'm working on my house and trying to figure out the best way to set up the plumbing for radiant floor heating. Got two diagrams - one's a simple loop system, the other's got multiple zones. I'm leaning toward zoning, but is it really worth the extra hassle and cost?

The useful dividing line is whether the areas actually need different heat. Zones can pay off when rooms have substantially different heat losses or schedules, like bedrooms used mainly at night versus living areas used during the day. In an open-plan area that needs a similar temperature throughout, extra zones may add controls and balancing work without much benefit. The layout and room-by-room heat-loss calculations matter more than the number of rooms alone.
