Had a bit of a scare yesterday when I noticed a small leak under my kitchen sink. Luckily caught it early, but it got me thinking about how easily plumbing issues can sneak up on you. I'm not exactly handy, so um...wondering if anyone has some simple tips or maybe products they swear by to avoid plumbing disasters? Preferably something easy enough for someone who's not exactly Bob the Builder, haha.

Yeah, plumbing leaks are sneaky like that. Had a tenant once who didn't notice a slow drip under the bathroom sink until the cabinet floor was practically mush. Learned my lesson the hard way. Here's what I do now to keep things dry and drama-free:

- **Leak detectors:** Small battery-operated alarms you place under sinks or near appliances. They beep loudly at the first sign of moisture. Cheap and easy—saved me more than once.
- **Regular checks:** Every month or two, just peek under sinks and around toilets. Takes literally 30 seconds, but catching a leak early saves a ton of hassle.
- **Braided steel hoses:** Replace those cheap plastic supply lines with braided stainless steel ones. They're tougher and less likely to burst unexpectedly.
- **Know your shut-off valves:** Make sure you know exactly where your main water shut-off is and test it occasionally. Nothing worse than scrambling to find it when water's spraying everywhere...

Honestly, you don't need to be Bob the Builder to handle this stuff—just a bit proactive.
