Fair point about false alarms, but honestly, I'd rather deal with a few false alerts than miss the real thing. Had a slow leak behind the washer once that went unnoticed for weeks... talk about drywall nightmares. From my experience, most decent leak sensors are pretty accurate these days—just position them carefully (not too close to humid spots). The peace of mind outweighs the occasional inconvenience, at least for me.

Good points here, especially about sensor placement. I've found that careful positioning really does make a difference in accuracy. Another thing worth considering is the type of sensor you choose—some models are more sensitive to humidity fluctuations than others, which can lead to unnecessary alerts. Personally, I've had better luck with sensors that measure both moisture and temperature changes simultaneously; they seem to filter out false alarms more effectively.

Also, from an eco-friendly perspective, catching leaks early isn't just about avoiding drywall disasters (though that's definitely a bonus). Even minor leaks can waste significant amounts of water over time, impacting both your utility bills and environmental footprint. So while false alarms can be mildly annoying, the overall benefits—both financial and ecological—make them worthwhile in my book.

Totally agree about sensor placement—makes a huge difference. But have you noticed certain brands being overly sensitive even when positioned right? I've had a few that practically cried wolf every time someone took a hot shower. Switched to dual-sensors like you mentioned, and it's been way better. Still, gotta wonder...if pipes could talk, would they complain about us ignoring their little drips, or just beg us to stop singing in the shower?

Haha, pretty sure my pipes would just beg me to stop the DIY plumbing attempts—I've probably caused more leaks than I've fixed. Agree on the sensors though, some brands seem way too jumpy no matter how careful you place them. I switched to dual-sensors last year too, and it's saved me from a few false alarms. Still, nothing beats the good old-fashioned ear-to-the-wall method...cheap and reliable!

Haha, I feel you on the DIY plumbing struggles—my pipes would probably stage a full-on rebellion if they could talk. But hey, at least you're giving it a shot and learning along the way. I've had my share of plumbing mishaps too...like the time I thought tightening a joint would fix a drip and ended up flooding half the kitchen. Good times.

Totally agree about those overly sensitive sensors. Some brands seem to panic at the slightest hint of moisture, and it's honestly more stressful than helpful. Dual-sensors were a game changer for me as well—fewer false alarms means fewer mini heart attacks at 2 AM. Still, gotta respect your ear-to-the-wall method; sometimes the simplest solutions really are the best. Plus, you can't beat free, right? Keep at it—your pipes might complain, but your wallet will thank you later.
