Good point about the regulator—have you noticed if it makes any noise or vibration when the water's running? Mine started humming quietly before it went bad, but I didn't connect the dots until after replacing it. Still, wouldn't a cheap gauge at least help confirm if it's drifting? I'm all for saving money, but sometimes a small investment upfront can save headaches later...

Funny you mention that humming sound—I had something similar happen with my place. Kept hearing this weird low hum whenever I'd run the shower, thought I was just imagining things or maybe had tinnitus kicking in early, haha. Then one day, bam, pressure dropped and water was barely trickling out. Turned out the regulator was shot, and yeah, hindsight's 20/20.

I totally get your point about the gauge too. A cheap gauge definitely helps narrow things down without breaking the bank. But speaking of small investments... anyone here ever tried installing one of those whole-house water pressure monitors? Saw one at the hardware store recently and wondered if they're worth the extra cash or just overkill for regular homeowners like us. Curious if they really help catch stuff early or just add another gadget to worry about...

Honestly, those whole-house monitors seem like overkill to me. I mean, how often do you really check your water pressure unless something's already off? A simple gauge once in a while is probably enough. Plus, more tech usually means more stuff that can break down later... learned that the hard way with my smart thermostat, haha.

Yeah, I get what you're saying about extra tech sometimes causing headaches down the line. But honestly, a whole-house monitor can catch subtle leaks or pressure fluctuations early—stuff you'd probably miss with just occasional checks. Ever had a slow leak behind drywall? Trust me, it's not fun. Still, I agree they're pricey... maybe worth it if your home's older or you've had plumbing issues before.

Haha, smart thermostats...been there, done that. But seriously, ever had your pipes decide to throw a tantrum at 2 AM? Not exactly a fun wake-up call. I get the hesitation about adding more tech, but catching those sneaky leaks early can save you from tearing out drywall later. Still, I wonder if these monitors ever give false alarms—imagine panicking over a leak that's just condensation or something...
