When a leak clamp turns into a repeat repair
A clamp can be a sensible way to stop an active leak, but I wouldn’t treat the lower immediate cost as the whole decision if the pipe around the failure is deteriorated too.
What pipe materials and conditions do you consider suitable for a clamp, and what tells you the damage is isolated rather than part of a longer stretch that needs replacing? I’m also curious how you weigh access and disruption now against the chance of paying for another visit and more labor later. A clamp that buys useful time may be a good call in one situation, but a poor long-term repair in another.
