why is setting up a sink outside such a pain

Decided to finally put a sink in my backyard for BBQs and gardening stuff, seemed simple enough at first. But man, it's turning into one headache after another. Between figuring out drainage, dealing with plumbing codes, and trying to find fixtures that won't rust or fall apart after one season... I'm about ready to just stick with the garden hose, you know? Anyone else run into this kinda hassle or am I just unlucky here?
