Water still shows up under the sink with the dishwasher valve closed
If water keeps appearing beneath a sink after the dishwasher supply valve is turned off, what observations help tell whether it’s coming from the valve, the dishwasher hose, or a nearby connection? Would the timing matter: only during a dishwasher cycle, or also while it’s idle?
I’d also like to understand what “closed” tells you here. If the valve is accessible and fully turned off, does continued leaking from the valve or hose suggest shutting off the home’s main supply, or could the water be tracking from a connection that the dishwasher valve doesn’t isolate? What signs would make this an emergency-plumber call rather than something that can wait?

If it appears only during a cycle, suspect a hose or connection used then; if it appears while idle, a pressurized supply connection or the valve itself is more likely. Look for the first or highest wet point, since water can run along a hose or cabinet and drip elsewhere. A closed dishwasher valve should stop new supply through it, but it may not isolate a nearby connection on the supply side, and a faulty valve may still pass water. If water is flowing or spreading, shut off the main if you can do so safely and call a plumber promptly; keep clear of wet electrical equipment. A small, contained drip still needs repair, but is less immediately urgent.
