Yeah, plumbing stuff can spiral out of control way faster than most people realize. Had a tenant once who tried to unclog the kitchen sink with some random chemical cleanerβ€”ended up corroding the pipes and causing a leak behind the wall. Cost me way more to fix the damage than just calling a plumber would have in the first place. DIY enthusiasm is great, but knowing when to step back and call in a pro is definitely key... learned that one the hard way myself.

Yeah, chemical drain cleaners are definitely risky... people underestimate how harsh they can be on pipes, especially older plumbing. I've seen similar situations where someone poured in a strong cleaner, and it ended up eating through the seals or even thinning out metal pipes. Plus, if you have PVC pipes, some chemicals can soften or warp them. Honestly, a good plunger or drain snake is usually safer for minor clogsβ€”but if it's stubborn or you're unsure, better to get a plumber involved early than risk bigger headaches later.

Learned that lesson the hard way myself... poured some heavy-duty cleaner down my shower drain once, walked away feeling like a DIY hero, only to come back later to a weird chemical smell and a suspicious puddle under the sink. Drain snake all the way now, haha.

Haha, been there myself. Once tried to fix a leaky pipe with duct tape (I know, rookie move)... woke up to a mini lake in the kitchen. Learned quickly that shortcuts usually mean double the cleanup later.

Honestly, I get the appeal of DIY, but plumbing's one area I've learned to just bite the bullet and call someone. Tried replacing a faucet myself onceβ€”watched all the tutorials, felt confident... ended up stripping a valve and flooding the cabinet below. Cost me way more in repairs than if I'd just called a pro from the start. Not saying DIY isn't worth it for some things, but plumbing mistakes can escalate quickly and expensively. Sometimes it's better to skip the heroics and save yourself the headache.
