Yeah, vinegar's definitely underrated. I've seen it work wonders on minor clogs and buildup, but just a heads-up—be careful if you're dealing with older pipes or fixtures. Sometimes the acidity can be rough on certain materials over time. Still, it's usually my first go-to before breaking out heavier stuff or calling in backup. Glad it worked out for you though... plumbing bills add up fast.

Good point about vinegar's acidity—I've seen some older brass fixtures get pretty messed up from repeated vinegar treatments. Makes me wonder though, how do you usually gauge when a clog is minor enough for DIY vs. when it's safer to call in a pro? I've heard horror stories of people thinking it's an easy fix, then ending up with water damage and bigger headaches...

Yeah, vinegar's great for minor clogs, but definitely not a cure-all. Usually, if the water drains slowly but still moves, I'll give DIY methods a shot—plunger, hot water, baking soda combo. But once it's totally backed up or there's weird gurgling noises from deeper in the pipes... that's when I step back and call someone in. Ever had one of those "easy" fixes turn into an all-day plumbing nightmare?

- Totally agree, vinegar and baking soda have limits—especially with grease build-up.
- Had a tenant once who poured hot wax down the drain (don't ask)... DIY turned into a full-day pipe replacement.
- Now, weird noises or slow draining means plumber time for me.

Reminds me of the time my brother-in-law decided to "fix" our clogged sink with a wire hanger. Ended up puncturing the pipe—turned a minor blockage into a major plumbing overhaul. DIY can be tempting, but knowing when you're out of your depth is crucial. If basic methods like plungers or enzyme cleaners don't cut it, it's usually cheaper (and less stressful) to call in a professional before things escalate.
