- Totally get the appeal of mapping airflow—way more satisfying than just guessing where the cold spots are.
- Tried those magnetic vent covers too. They did help a bit, but I noticed the air started whistling through the smallest gaps. Not sure if that’s a pressure thing or just my old ductwork acting up.
- Pressure worries are legit. I’ve heard blocking too many vents can mess with the system, maybe even cause leaks if you’re unlucky.
- Still, experimenting’s half the fun. If you’re careful and don’t block too many at once, it’s probably fine for short-term fixes.
- Honestly, sometimes it feels like a game of “which room will freeze tonight?” Glad I’m not the only one dealing with this.

I’ve definitely had the “which room will freeze tonight?” problem—last week it was the guest room, and my partner was not impressed. Anyone else notice that sometimes closing one vent just makes the noise worse somewhere else? I keep thinking maybe it’s my old house settling, but who knows. Have you tried those little clip-on fans for the vents? I’m tempted but not sure if they’re worth it.
