What should a gas-line leak repair quote spell out?
When the suspected leak location isn’t certain, what should a written repair quote include so it’s possible to compare quotes fairly?
I’d want to know whether leak locating is priced separately from the repair, and whether the quote includes post-repair testing and any required inspection. If the source turns out to be somewhere other than the initial finding, how should extra work be described and approved before it adds to the bill? I’m curious what details are reasonable to expect up front versus listed as conditional work.

For a fair comparison, each quote should state the locating fee and what it covers, the repair scope and exclusions, and whether testing and any required inspection are included or conditional. If the suspected source is wrong, it should explain how added work will be priced and require your approval of the revised scope and cost before proceeding.
