True, but I'd be cautious about clearance detectors too—sometimes they're older models nearing expiration dates. Always double-check manufacturing dates and test regularly, even if they're brand new from the store.
Good point about checking dates—I've seen brand-new detectors fail right out of the box. Had one once that kept chirping randomly... drove me nuts until I realized it was faulty. Regular testing is definitely key.
Had a similar issue once, thought I was losing my mind with the random chirps... turned out it wasn't faulty, just super sensitive to humidity. Makes me wonder, are some detectors just too finicky for their own good? Regular checks definitely help, but maybe simpler is better sometimes.
