I've found hallway placements aren't always ideal either, honestly. Had one there, thinking it was a safe bet, but turns out steam from the kitchen still drifted down enough to set it off occasionally. Eventually, I put detectors in bedrooms and common areas away from direct airflow paths—problem solved. And about gas leak detectors, they're worth every penny in my experience. Had tenants who didn't notice a small leak for days; detector caught it early, probably saved us a bigger headache down the line. Placement matters, sure, but I'd rather deal with occasional false alarms than miss something serious.

Yeah, hallway spots can be tricky...I had mine near the bathroom once and showers kept setting it off. Moved it closer to bedrooms, no issues since. Gas detectors seem pricey at first, but they're worth it for peace of mind.

Had a similar issue at my place—detector kept going off near the laundry room because of humidity from the dryer vent. Ended up shifting it closer to the kitchen/living area, and it's been smooth sailing since. You're right about the cost though, feels steep initially, but when you consider the alternative...yeah, definitely worth it for sleeping easier at night. Glad you sorted yours out too, those false alarms can be stressful.

Had a call-out recently where the homeowner had their detector near the bathroom—every hot shower set it off. Took us a while to figure out it was just steam, not an actual leak. Ended up moving it to the hallway near the bedrooms, and it's been quiet since. Placement really matters with these detectors, humidity can be a sneaky false alarm trigger. Yeah, they're pricey upfront, but after seeing how relieved people are once they're properly set up... definitely worth it in my book.

Yeah, humidity's a tricky one. Had a similar issue where the detector kept going off near a laundry room—dryer steam was the culprit. Good call relocating it, saves everyone stress and unnecessary call-outs...
