Totally agree - people underestimate how much a tiny bit of slope helps. I learned that the hard way after a “level” French drain backed up during a storm. Ever try using a laser level for longer runs? Makes life so much easier, especially if the yard’s not flat. Also, curious if anyone’s had luck with those newer perforated solid pipes? I’ve only used the classic stuff, but maybe I’m missing out.

Tried eyeballing the slope on my first drain job - bad idea. Water just sat there, didn’t move at all. Ended up redoing it with a cheap laser level and it actually worked. Haven’t tried those new pipes yet, though. Kinda skeptical they’re any better than the old stuff.
