"Has anyone else noticed if certain lighting conditions affect sensor accuracy?"

Funny you mention lighting—I swear ours acts up more around sunset when the kitchen lights mix with natural light. Maybe it's reflections confusing the sensor? Honestly, these things seem way too finicky for everyday use...

I've noticed similar issues, especially around dusk when shadows start shifting. A couple of thoughts from experience:

- Reflections definitely play a role—our sensor faucet in the bathroom sometimes triggers randomly if sunlight bounces off the mirror.
- Also noticed accuracy drops if there's steam or condensation nearby (like after a hot shower).
- Honestly, I prefer manual faucets for reliability. Sensors are convenient, but when they glitch out, it makes me question their practicality for daily use...

Interesting points about reflections and steam—I hadn't thought about the steam issue before, but it makes sense. I've seen similar quirks with sensor faucets in commercial buildings, especially when lighting conditions change suddenly. Makes me wonder if manufacturers test these sensors under varied real-world conditions or mostly controlled lab setups...

Speaking of reliability, has anyone noticed if certain brands or models handle these environmental factors better than others? I've dealt with a few different types at work, and some seem way more sensitive to minor changes than others. Maybe it's down to sensor placement or sensitivity settings? Curious if there's a particular design that's less prone to these random triggers...

Ha, based on my experience, I'd bet my organic veggie garden they're mostly tested in pristine labs by people who've never had soap-covered hands and fogged-up mirrors. 😅 I've had a couple of sensor faucets at home (trying to save water, you know...) and honestly, they seem to have minds of their own. One model (won't name names, but it rhymes with "Schmohler") would randomly activate whenever sunlight bounced off my shiny toaster. Seriously, my kitchen faucet was practically possessed by breakfast.

That said, I upgraded recently to a different brand with the sensor placed slightly lower and angled differently, and it's been way more chill about sudden light changes or steam. Still not perfect, but fewer ghostly water activations at midnight, at least. I think you're onto something about sensor placement and sensitivity settings. Brands probably vary a lot in how well they handle real-world quirks. I'm guessing the ones that trigger less often have sensors positioned to avoid direct reflections from mirrors or shiny surfaces.

Honestly though, sometimes I miss the simplicity of old-school faucets—turn handle, water appears, no mystery involved. But hey, the planet appreciates the effort, even if my faucet occasionally thinks it's haunted...

Haha, your possessed-by-breakfast faucet story cracked me up. I've had similar experiences—mine used to turn on every time the bathroom mirror fogged up after a hot shower. I swear it was mocking me, like "Oh, you think you're saving water? Watch this..." 😅

But seriously, I think you're right about lab testing vs. real-world conditions. Manufacturers probably mean well, but there's just no way they can replicate every quirky scenario we encounter at home. It's good you found a model that works better for you though—sensor placement seems key. I ended up switching back to a manual faucet in the kitchen because the random activations drove me nuts. Still use sensor faucets in the bathrooms though; less reflective surfaces in there seem to help.

Anyway, props for sticking with it and finding something that works better. Your patience is stronger than mine—I gave up after the third midnight ghost activation flooded my countertop...
