I've never had to deal with cracks inside the actual faucet body yet (knock on wood), but I've definitely had my share of dripping faucets that drove me nuts. Usually it's just a worn-out washer or cartridge, but now you've got me wondering if I've overlooked something like that before.
Speaking of faucet mysteries, does anyone know why some faucets seem to lose water pressure randomly? Like, one day they're perfectly fine, and the next day it's just a sad trickle. I've cleaned aerators and checked valves, but sometimes it just stays weak. Could internal buildup in the faucet itself be causing it, or is it more likely something further back in the plumbing lines? Curious if anyone else has figured out a reliable way to diagnose that...
I've had faucets randomly lose pressure too, and in my case it turned out to be mineral buildup inside the faucet itself. Vinegar soak helped a ton...cheaper than replacing parts, and worth a shot before calling a plumber.

Had the same issue when I moved into my first place. Faucet pressure dropped randomly, drove me nuts. Did the vinegar soak trick tooβworked surprisingly well. Saved me from an unnecessary plumber call.

Yeah, I've used vinegar a few times myself. Works surprisingly well for something so simple. Just make sure to rinse thoroughly after soakingβleftover vinegar can be tough on seals and washers if you're not careful...but definitely beats an expensive plumber visit.
Had a similar faucet issue a while back, and vinegar did help temporarily...but have you checked your aerator screen? Mine was clogged with tiny mineral bits, and no amount of soaking really solved it long-term. Ended up replacing the aerator altogetherβcheap fix and pressure's been steady since. Makes me wonder though, how do those little screens clog up so fast anyway?
