Been trying to cut down my water and energy bills lately, and I'm stuck between swapping out my showerhead for one of those low-flow models or installing faucet aerators on all my sinks. Both seem pretty affordable and easy enough to install, but I'm kinda curious if anyone's noticed a significant difference in savings or comfort between the two. I mean, I love a good shower, you know, so I'm a bit skeptical about the low-flow thing... Anyone tried both and have a preference?
I switched to a low-flow showerhead a couple years backβhonestly, I was pretty hesitant at first because who doesn't love a solid, powerful shower? But after hearing my dad rave about his savings, I gave it a shot. It felt weird at first, like something was missing, but after a week or so, I didn't even notice the difference anymore. My water bill definitely dropped a noticeable chunk, maybe 10-15% or so.
As for faucet aerators, I installed them in my kitchen and bathroom sinks around the same time because it was cheap and easy. The savings there weren't as obvious (probably because we don't run the sinks as long as showers), but every little bit helps, right? Comfort-wise, no complaintsβthe aerators actually made the water flow smoother and less splashy, which I appreciated when washing dishes.
If you're looking for bigger savings, I'd probably lean toward the showerhead first. But if you're really attached to your current shower experience, maybe start small with the aerators and see how that goes. Either way, both are solid moves in my experience.
