Totally get what you’re saying about not trusting sensors 100%. Here’s where I’m at as someone still figuring this stuff out:

- Apps and sensors seem cool, but I’m always second-guessing if they’ll catch everything. What if the battery dies or the WiFi drops?
- I’ve already had a tiny leak under my bathroom sink that I only noticed because I was looking for something else. No app would’ve caught that.
- Flashlight checks are kind of a pain, but honestly, I feel better after doing them. Like, at least I know what’s going on.
- That said, I still have a plumber’s number saved, just in case something gets out of hand. Not sure I’d trust myself to spot every problem early.

It’s reassuring to hear others have had issues with sensors missing stuff. Makes me feel less paranoid for crawling under the sink every now and then... Maybe it’s just part of owning a place?

I’m right there with you on the flashlight checks. I keep thinking, what if the sensor’s battery dies and I don’t notice for weeks? Or if it just doesn’t pick up a slow drip? I’ve had a similar thing—found a tiny leak behind my washing machine only because I dropped a sock back there. Makes me wonder if tech is more of a backup than a main solution. Do you ever feel like you’re just waiting for something to go wrong, or is that just me overthinking it?

Totally get where you’re coming from. I used to trust the leak sensor under my sink, but then I realized it missed a slow drip that warped the cabinet floor. Now I do a quick check every Sunday—flashlight, look for damp spots, sniff for musty smells. Tech’s handy, but I still like having a plumber’s number saved just in case. I’d rather catch stuff early than find out when it’s already a mess.

I hear you on the leak sensors. I’ve seen a lot of those things miss slow leaks—especially under sinks where it’s just a tiny drip over time. Had a customer swear by his “smart” sensor, but by the time he called me, the particle board was already mush. Honestly, nothing beats just poking your head under there every now and then. Even a cheap flashlight will catch what an app might not.

I get the appeal of all the tech, but most folks don’t realize those sensors can only do so much. They’re great for big leaks, but slow drips? Not always. I tell people: trust your nose and eyes first. If something smells off or feels damp, don’t wait for a notification. And yeah, having a plumber’s number handy saves a lot of stress when things go sideways. Sometimes old-school is just more reliable, you know?

I get where you’re coming from, but I actually like having a sensor as backup. I’m all about catching leaks early, since water waste is a big deal for me. Yeah, I still check under the sink myself, but if I’m out of town for a few days, I’d rather get a heads up from my phone than nothing at all. Not perfect, but it’s saved me once when my dishwasher line let go. Guess I just trust the tech a little more—at least as a second line of defense.
