"Having a plumber who already knew our setup saved us from major water damage."

That's a good point—familiarity can make a huge difference during emergencies. I've checked out a couple plumbing apps, and while they're handy for quick fixes or scheduling routine stuff, I'm skeptical they'd be reliable during a crisis. When you're dealing with burst pipes and water everywhere, the last thing you want is to be scrolling through reviews or waiting for an app response...

Exactly—do you really want to gamble on an app when you've got water gushing onto your floor? I mean, apps have their place, sure, but how many of those plumbers actually know your property layout or quirks? I'd always lean toward someone who's already familiar with my setup. It's not just convenience; it's peace of mind when things go sideways...

Apps are handy for pizza and rides, but plumbing? Nah, when water's pouring out like Niagara Falls, I'm grabbing the phone and calling someone who already knows my weird basement setup. Had an app plumber once who spent half the time just figuring out where my shut-off valve was...lesson learned. Give me a trusted pro any day, especially when the clock's ticking and my socks are getting soaked.

Haha, been there. Honestly, apps might be handy for routine stuff, but when water's gushing everywhere, I'm not gambling on someone who's never seen my quirky pipes before. Plus, a seasoned pro usually spots safety issues that an app plumber might overlook—like that ancient valve that's one twist away from disaster. I'll stick with my trusty plumber who knows exactly which pipe not to touch...

Yeah, I get what you're saying, but honestly even seasoned plumbers can have trouble with shut-off valves if they've never been to your place before. I've been on both sides of this—dealing with plumbing emergencies at work and at home—and half the battle is just knowing where everything is. I had one plumber, super experienced guy, who spent 20 minutes hunting down my main shut-off because the previous homeowner hid it behind a removable panel that looked identical to the wall. I felt bad for the guy, he was apologizing the whole time even though it wasn't his fault.

Apps can be hit-or-miss for sure, but I wouldn't write them off completely. They can be handy for smaller things or when your usual plumber is booked solid. I used an app plumber once when my usual guy was away on vacation. Turned out the app plumber was a younger guy just starting out, but he was thorough and ended up catching a minor leak in another pipe that would have caused bigger problems down the line.

Still, for anything major—or quirky plumbing setups like mine—I prefer going with someone who's seen my pipes before. Especially if you have older plumbing or a house with weird DIY fixes from previous owners (like mine), there's just no substitute for familiarity. Plus, nothing beats having someone who already knows to watch out for that "special" valve you have to jiggle just right or the pipe that bangs loudly no matter what you do.

Bottom line, apps are decent backups, but for serious plumbing issues, it's worth building a relationship with a reliable plumber who knows your place. Saves time, saves stress, and probably saves money in the long run.
