Did you know that some folks swear by using cola to unclog drains? Apparently, the acidity helps break down gunk. I always thought that was just an urban legend, but it kinda makes sense. Anyone ever tried something weird (or gross) that actually worked?

Tried cola once out of pure desperation. Didn’t do much except make my kitchen smell like a movie theater. Here’s what’s actually worked for me:

- Baking soda + vinegar combo. Classic, but surprisingly effective for minor clogs.
- Wet/dry shop vac. Sucked up a hairball the size of a mouse once—gross, but satisfying.
- Wire coat hanger (old school). Just gotta be careful not to scratch the pipes.

Cola? Not convinced. Fun experiment, though...

Honestly, I’ve never seen cola do much for clogs either—maybe if you left it sitting for days, but by then you’d have bigger problems. The baking soda and vinegar trick is decent for light buildup, but it’s not a miracle worker. If you’re dealing with grease, enzyme-based drain cleaners actually break stuff down way better. Shop vacs are underrated, though... nothing like the satisfaction of hearing that gunk get sucked out.

Totally agree—shop vacs are a game changer, especially if you’re careful about the mess. I’d just add, make sure to use a filter or bag if you’re dealing with anything gross. I’ve seen people try wire hangers and it usually just scratches up the pipes or pushes the clog further. Enzyme cleaners are safer for pipes than the harsh chemical stuff, too.

Never thought about enzyme cleaners until a plumber friend mentioned them—turns out they actually work, just not instantly. Tried the wire hanger trick once and it made things worse, honestly. Shop vacs are messy but weirdly satisfying, like you said. Cola still seems sketchy to me, though.
