Had a plumber over yesterday because our water pressure's been acting weird lately, and while he was checking things out, he mentioned something about needing some kind of special certification for cross-connections. Honestly, I'd never even heard of this before. Apparently, it's about making sure your drinking water doesn't get contaminated by other stuff in your plumbing system (like garden hoses or sprinkler systems). Now I'm wondering if this is something everyone else already knows about, and I've just been living under a rock, lol.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Did you have to get certified yourself or hire someone who already was? I'm kinda confused about how common this really is...

You're definitely not aloneβI had no clue about cross-connections either until a city inspector brought it up during a rental inspection. Ended up hiring someone certified; honestly, worth the peace of mind.
