- You nailed it—those diagrams are way too clean compared to the real mess under most sinks.
- The app’s step-by-step stuff is fine, but I’ve seen too many people skip the main shutoff and end up with water everywhere.
- Honestly, even seasoned folks can miss that step if they’re in a rush.
- Not sure any app can really prep you for those oddball fittings or the “what the heck is that?” moments.
- Still, if it gets more people to double-check before they start, that’s a win in my book.
- Just wish these tools would show more of the ugly, real-world setups instead of the textbook-perfect ones...

Honestly, I get why folks want more realistic diagrams, but I actually think the “too clean” visuals have a place—especially for beginners. When I first tried fixing a leaky faucet, those perfect diagrams helped me wrap my head around what was supposed to be happening, even if my pipes looked nothing like that. The trick is to use them as a baseline, then expect some chaos under your own sink. If the app could add a section with user-uploaded photos of real setups, that’d be gold. But I wouldn’t ditch the clean diagrams entirely—they’re a good starting point, at least for me.

Totally get what you mean about the “too clean” diagrams being helpful at first. I remember staring at my under-sink mess and thinking, “Where’s the tidy blue pipe from the picture?”

The trick is to use them as a baseline, then expect some chaos under your own sink.
That’s the realest thing I’ve read all week. I do wonder, though—would seeing a bunch of gnarly, real-life setups just freak out beginners? Or maybe it’d be comforting to know everyone’s pipes look like spaghetti.

Honestly, I’ve seen a lot of under-sink setups, and “spaghetti” is putting it kindly sometimes. Those perfect diagrams are like IKEA instructions—nice in theory, but real life’s messier. I actually think showing a few real-world photos (not just horror stories, but normal ones) might help folks realize their setup isn’t a disaster. It’s just... lived-in. The trick is not to scare people, but to set expectations. Nobody’s pipes are magazine-ready, and that’s fine.

Honestly, I get what you’re saying, but sometimes those “lived-in” setups are hiding issues that only show up when you’re elbow-deep in a leak. I’d love to see this app handle the weird stuff—like mismatched fittings or those ancient saddle valves. Has anyone seen if it can actually identify non-standard setups, or is it just for textbook cases?
