Chains can be a tripping hazard, especially if someone’s not paying attention. Have you tried using those big “Do Not Block—Emergency Access” floor decals?

That’s a fair point about chains. I’ve had to deal with a few near-misses myself—folks get tunnel vision and just don’t notice what’s right in front of them. The floor decals are a solid idea, especially for high-traffic spots. They’re tough to miss, and you don’t have to worry about someone moving them out of the way.

Only thing I’d watch for is if the area gets wet or dirty, sometimes those decals can get slippery or peel up. But honestly, compared to cones or chains, they’re way less likely to cause a fall. I’ve seen people just kick cones aside without thinking twice, so I get where you’re coming from. Anything that keeps the pathway clear and people safe is worth a shot.

Never had much luck with floor decals, honestly. Maybe it's just my house, but between muddy boots and the dog, they peel up fast and look rough in no time. I just use bright tape—cheap and easy to replace. Not perfect, but it works for us... anyone else tried that?

I’ve actually had the opposite experience with tape—maybe it’s the humidity in my place, but the adhesive seems to give up after a couple weeks, especially near the bathroom. Have you ever had it leave a sticky residue on tile? I tried painter’s tape once thinking it’d be easy to clean, but nope... Also, curious if anyone’s found a tape that works on textured floors? I haven’t cracked that one yet.

Tape and humidity just don’t mix, in my experience. I’ve tried a bunch of different kinds—gaffer’s tape, painter’s tape, even that neon duct tape—and they all end up peeling or leaving that nasty residue, especially anywhere near a shower or laundry area. The worst is when you think you’ve got it all off, then you step on a sticky patch in your socks... not fun.

Textured floors are a whole other headache. I tried marking out a line on some old tile with that “for everything” double-sided tape, but it barely stuck for a day. Chalk works better for me on rough surfaces, though it’s not as visible. Sometimes I’ll just use a dry-erase marker if it’s a spot I can wipe down later. Not perfect, but at least it doesn’t leave gunk behind.

If anyone’s found a magic tape that actually holds up in damp spots and doesn’t turn into a sticky mess, I’d love to hear about it. Until then, I’m sticking (pun intended) to chalk and markers where I can.
