need ideas for a quick-fix kit for sudden pipe leaks

Had a bit of a panic last weekend when I woke up at 3 am to the lovely sound of dripping water in the bathroom cabinet. Turns out, one of the pipes decided to spring a leak right then (because of course it would, right?). Anyway, I managed to slap some duct tape on it temporarily, but it got me thinking - I really should have some kind of kit or supplies handy for these surprise plumbing disasters. Something better than duct tape and crossed fingers, lol.
Wondering what you guys keep handy at home for sudden leaks or plumbing emergencies? Any products or tools that saved your bacon in situations like this? I'm not exactly Mr. Fix-it, so something easy to use would be awesome.

Haha, duct tape is great...until it isn't. Totally agree you need something a bit more reliable. I'd suggest grabbing some plumber's epoxy putty - it's super easy to use even if you're half-asleep at 3 am and panicking. Just knead it, slap it on the leak, and it'll harden up nicely. Also, a pipe clamp or two can be lifesavers for temporary fixes. Saved me more than once from a flooded kitchen floor.
Epoxy putty's handy, yeah, but honestly pipe repair tape (the silicone kind) is underrated. Had a pinhole leak in a copper line last winter, wrapped it tight with that stuff, and it held solid until I could properly solder it. Clamps are good too, but sometimes space is tight and tape's easier to work around fittings.

True, but have you ever tried removing hardened epoxy at 4 am when you're half awake? Not fun...
- Epoxy putty's good, but yeah, scraping it off later is a nightmare. Been there, done that.
- Silicone tape is definitely underrated - especially in tight spots. Saved me a few times when clamps just wouldn't fit.
- One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet: anyone tried those rubber patch kits with the metal backing plate? Had a tenant use one once, and surprisingly, it held up pretty well until I could get in there properly.
- Curious if anyone else has experience with those - worth keeping around or just another gimmick?

I've seen those rubber patch kits with metal backing plates in stores, but always wondered if they're just a temporary band-aid. Silicone tape has worked decently for me, but never tried epoxy putty - sounds messy to deal with later.
