Finally bit the bullet and replaced my ancient boiler, and wow, bills have seriously dropped. House feels warmer too, even though I'm not cranking the heat as much... anyone else seen a big change after upgrading?

Yeah, upgrading helps, but honestly, I didn't see a huge drop in my bills. Maybe my old boiler wasn't as prehistoric as yours, lol. Still, the quieter operation alone was worth it... no more midnight clanking waking me up.
