Yeah, I've seen similar issues with Wi-Fi dropping out and devices not reconnecting right away. Usually, unplugging and plugging back in does the trick, but it's definitely annoying when you're already stressed about leaks. Still, like you said, way better than dealing with a flooded basement at 2 AM... Been there once myself—nothing wakes you up faster than stepping into icy water barefoot in the dark.

Yeah, that's a brutal wake-up call for sure... I've found that Wi-Fi connection issues with smart leak detectors often come down to router placement or interference. A few things that helped me:

- Move your router or detector slightly—sometimes even a foot makes a difference.
- Check if your router has separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels; many detectors prefer 2.4GHz.
- Consider a Wi-Fi extender if your basement signal is weak.

Might save you from another barefoot ice bath at 2 AM.

Ha, been there... last winter my "smart" detector decided to disconnect randomly. Turns out it hated being behind the water heater. Moved it a foot over and voila—no more surprise midnight swims.

"sometimes even a foot makes a difference."

Definitely true in my case.

Haha, smart detectors can be picky, but are we sure it was just the foot of space that mattered? Could've been interference from the heater itself or even the pipes nearby messing with the signal. I've seen detectors act up just because of metal brackets or random wiring behind walls... plumbing mysteries never end, do they? Glad your midnight swims are over though—wet socks at 2 AM are no joke.

- Yeah, good point about interference—smart detectors can get thrown off by the weirdest stuff.
- I've seen them go nuts just from foil-backed insulation or even old copper pipes running too close behind drywall.
- But honestly, sometimes it's just placement. Moving one detector a few inches saved us from constant false alarms at a job last month.
- Plumbing's full of surprises like that... and yeah, midnight plumbing chaos is the worst. Wet socks and freezing water—no thanks.
