Just learned this the hard way after a mini flood in my laundry room... apparently, there's this thing called backflow, where water reverses direction and can seriously mess things up. Friend told me to install these cheap little valves (backflow preventers) on certain pipes. Took like 15 mins tops and now I sleep easier knowing I won't wake up to another surprise puddle. Anyone else got simple plumbing tips or hacks they've picked up along the way?

Haha, yep, those little valves are lifesavers. Another quick tipβcheck your washing machine hoses every now and then. They get brittle over time, and trust me, replacing a hose beats mopping up gallons of water at 2am...
Totally agree on the washing machine hosesβhad one burst on me a few years back, and let's just say my basement turned into a mini swimming pool overnight. Another thing worth checking is the dishwasher supply line. People forget about it, but it's usually tucked away behind cabinets, quietly aging and waiting to cause trouble. Takes just a minute to peek under there every now and then...way easier than dealing with warped floors and soggy drywall.
